The beloved series' latest adventure explores the brand-new world of this new domain, a universe completely distinct from the well-known Exandria where earlier adventures took place. Within this world, deities met their end by mortalkind just within living memory, sorcery becomes unpredictable, and people must learn to govern their affairs lacking celestial direction.
The Realm of Campaign 4
While Exandria represents a universe characterized by divine presence, this new world is marked by their utter lack. Seventy years ago, a monumental conflict took place, and humanity destroyed the last of divine beings. The seven lords of creation now gone, humanity had to make do by themselves in a transformed reality, filled with chaotic sorcery and instability.
The central setting for the initial episode is Dol-Makjar, located on the east side of a territory known as Kahad. The settlement deeply respects the rebellion figures of the defining battle. The statues of these individuals protrude from the fortifications of the community, pushing against nearby peaks as if keeping them at bay.
Although Dol-Makjar serves as the initial setting, numerous other locations get mentioned in the narrative. One notable place is the Rookery, seemingly the cultural district of the community, where performers, writers, performers, and assorted creatives dwell. Within this district that viewers experience the majority of the episode during the premiere. Additionally the dramatic space, this particular establishment, is located.
Further into the territory sits a different settlement called Dol-Rungja, although its significant regarding this place remains revealed.
Tir Cruthu represents the realm of fae creatures and an obscure realm outside mortal existence. It seems Tir Cruthu has vanished, though, and the portal to the world of Faerie has been closed. The implication behind this remains explained, but it's evident to affect one individual, who is beginning to grow older since becoming separated from that realm.
Lastly, there is the Mournvale, a land far from the main city and where this character and a religious order dwell. It appears the domain of elvenkind, but once more, much about it stay a mystery at present.
The Narrative of This Adventure
The narrative commences in the city of the mountain city. During the opening of the installment, the city's inhabitants assemble for a crucial event: the execution of Thjazi Fang. Per the official, Thjazi is scheduled to be executed for serving as "a traitor, magic user, murderer, and blatant rebellion against the city and the citizens." The character was once a celebrated soldier, but presently he's regarded as an outlaw by the governing body to the leadership group.
At Thjazi's execution, numerous distinct individuals with relationships to him come together to observe. These constitute our main cast for the story, consisting of one character, Occtis Tachonis, Thaisha Lloy, Halandil Fang, a fifth individual, a sixth person, Wicander Halovar, Teor Pridesire, a ninth person, Sir Julien Davinos, an eleventh individual, Kattigan Vale and a thirteenth character. Several of these individuals seek to free the prisoner; nevertheless, the attempt proves unsuccessful and he meets his end.
This event sets into motion the storyline of Campaign 4, but each aspect links directly to the modern lore of the setting of this universe. Seventy years before the current events, after the great conflict with the remaining divine being being slain, people were forced to address the question: how to proceed? Sorcery rapidly became uncontrolled and erratic lacking divine beings existing, and the question about where the souls of the dead travel, since the gods have ceased present to guide them to the next world, remains answered.
Inevitably, people banded together and started constructing their civilization again. However, unsurprisingly, certain individuals approved of how this transformed reality might develop. Despite limited knowledge extensive details regarding the War of Axe and Vine, it gets referenced quite a few times in the initial installment, and Thjazi was seen as a celebrated soldier after that battle came to an end. Nevertheless, two years later, Thjazi launched the Falconer's Rebellion against the powerful clans of the city. The reason why is still clarified, but since the character states that the ruling clans "have never been more powerful", it's reasonable to conclude multiple conclusions: the insurrection proved unsuccessful and the Sundered Houses' authority remains total in the city of Dol-Makjar.
Moreover, with arcane power operating chaotically, it's evident to be regulated and kept a close eye on. Pretty different from arcane practices get regarded in considerably more favorable light in the previous setting.
The People of Campaign 4
As well as our main cast, we're introduced to several important non-player characters in the community of Dol-Makjar.
Foremost among them is, of course, Thjazi Fang. A rascal, a criminal, a rebel, a lover, a sibling, a celebrated figure: Thjazi serves as the center regarding which the first episode {centers|focuses|revol
